Who is eligible for the TASHI Training Program?

TASHI is only for GW students enrolled in one of three doctoral programs (see below).

What are the doctoral programs partnering with the TASHI training program? 

The doctoral programs are: 

  1. the Doctoral Program in Social and Behavioral Sciences (PhD-SBS) in the Department of Prevention and Community Health,
  2. the Doctoral Program in Applied Social Psychology (PhD-ASP) in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, and
  3. the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (PhD-CP) in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences.

Do the doctoral programs require the GRE?

Check the program-specific requirements regarding standardized test scores (e.g., GRE). In addition to the GRE General Test, some Psychology programs require a GRE Subject Test. Contact the PhD-ASP and PhD-CP Program Directors for more details.

Can I participate in the TASHI training program virtually?

No, the three doctoral programs and the TASHI training program are only offered in person on the Foggy Bottom campus.

Can prospective international applicants apply to the TASHI training program?

The TASHI Training Program is limited to individuals who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents by the date of award.

Are applications to the doctoral programs and the TASHI training program completed concurrently?

Applications to the doctoral program and TASHI can be submitted concurrently or consecutively. Both applications must be submitted by their respective deadlines. For doctoral program application deadlines and requirements, please see the doctoral website. Is it okay to overlap content between my doctoral program application and my TASHI Training Program application?

Yes, applicants are permitted to have applicable content in both applications. Please note it is important to tailor content to each program application's requirements.

Can an author of a recommendation letter for my doctoral program application be a reference for my TASHI Training Program application?

Yes, applicants can utilize a letter writer as a reference for TASHI.

How many TASHI trainees are accepted each year?

TASHI plans to accept two trainees per year, one trainee from the PhD-SBS program and one trainee from the Psychology program(s).
